New DNA Technology Created Image of Killer, Resulted In Immediate Arrest

A new phenotype imaging technique was so accurate, the killer turned himself in.

Lake Brownwood, TX – A fresh advancement in DNA technology resulted in the Thursday arrest of the alleged rapist and murderer who wasn’t a good suspect, law enforcement say.

Ryan Derek Riggs, 21, on Wed was charged with capital murder for the 2016 loss of life of Rhonda Chantay Blankinship, the brand new York Daily Information reported.

Blankinship’s family reported her missing on, may 13, 2016, the Abilene Reporter-News said. Two times later, her body was found about five mls from her home, dumped within an old, collapsed cellar partially.

Researchers said the girl was assaulted and beaten with a lawnmower blade sexually. She suffered blunt force accidents to her throat, torso and face, and her larynx was smashed, the brand new York Daily Information reported.

DNA from the think was recovered at the scene, but researchers struggled to discover a think in Blankinship’s murder.

One night then, Brown Region Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Scott Bird watched a crime show on tv and learned all about a fresh phenotyping technique which used DNA to predict physical appearances, KTXS said.

Brown State Sheriff Vance Hill said his office and the district attorney’s office spent $4,000 to employ Parabon Nanolabs in Virginia to create a graphic using the suspect’s recovered DNA, and said was the best money his office has ever spent, KTXS reported.

The profile took about a month to complete.

On 9 November, Sheriff Hill released the image to the general public.

“This composite profile is no exact photograph of the actual suspect appears like,” a Dark brown Region Sheriff’s Office Facebook post said at the right time. “This amalgamated profile uses percentages showing the precision of appearance to add hair color, attention color, pores and skin, and epidermis markings (freckles).”

Regulators said Riggs, who used to be Blankinship’s neighbor, on Wed evening confessed the murder to the North Lake Community Cathedral congregation.

The victim have been an associate of the congregation when she was alive also.

A cathedral member alerted investigators, and Riggs’s parents took him to regulations enforcement center, the Abilene Reporter-News said.

Riggs then made a confession to the sheriff’s office and also to Tx Ranger Jason Shea, Sheriff Hill said.

Eighteen weeks after her brutal murder, Blankinship’s family is relieved her murderer has been found.

“We’re just glad this is over on this part,” her mother, Catherine McDaniel told KTXS. “That’s our biggest thing is that I’m glad he’s behind bars.”

“We got justice for Chantay and that’s what we wanted,” her stepfather, Steven McDaniel, said. “She can’t be replaced. But we got somebody off the streets. I hope he fries.”

The investigation into Riggs’s purpose is ongoing.

He has been charged with capital murder, and has been held in the Dark brown County Prison without bond.
